New Teeth Implants that can be fitted in your lunch hour

Dentures have become a thing of the past, thanks to the development of a new type of dental implants technique.  Revolutionary new procedure allows patients to say goodbye to false teeth and have a full set of teeth in just an hour.

Conventional dental implants have involved placing a screw in the jaw, which is attached to a post with a ceramic replacement tooth / teeth. Some people do not have enough bone in their jaw, into which to screw these standard implants, usually because of loss of bone quality or quantity caused by gum disease.  For these people – Over 20% of the population over the age of 65 – the only solution has been to settle for dentures or to have extensive, painful and lengthy surgery for bone graft in the jaw into which the implants could be secured.

Dentures are normally made from acrylic which fits over the gum and worn during the day. The problem is that many are ill-fitting and can move around the mouth, causing irritation and soreness of the tongue and all the surrounding soft tissues. In addition as a result of teeth loss, the jaw bone starts to recede, causing shrunken cheeks

Implants in an Hour; the new computer aided technique is so precise that implants can be fitted without even cutting or stitching of the gums. With no bleeding and virtually no pain, the patient is able to eat and enjoy solid food straight afterwards. This new high tech process (only available from specializing Implant surgeons) is being hailed as a major advance on existing surgical techniques.

Dental Implant failure, A Subject least Discussed

Dental Implants provide a long lasting and cosmetic solution for the problem of missing or broken down teeth. There are currently over 200 different implant systems in use around the world and only a handful of these implant systems have substantial evidence in the dental research literature to back their use, and even fewer implant systems have any substantial long-term follow up evidence to support their use on dental patients.

Tooth implants are among the most successful procedures in dentistry and the overall success rate is very high, yet there is no guarantee that an implant procedure will be successful. Studies have shown a five-year success rate of 95 percent for lower jaw implants and 90 percent for upper jaw implants. The success rate for upper jaw implants is slightly lower because the upper jaw (especially the posterior areas) has lower bone density than the lower jaw, hence successful implant restorations are potentially more difficult to achieve.

Although the overall success rate of implant dentistry is very high, dental implants occasionally fail, therefore it is essential for the clinician to be able to identify unhealthy implants and to determine whether they are failing, or failed prior to beginning any recovery effort. As failing implants are amenable to therapy. Implants diagnosed as failed should be removed.
Undoubtedly, the best steps to avoid encountering failing implants involve proper case selection, excellent surgical technique, placing an adequate restoration on the implant, educating the implant patient to maintain meticulous oral hygiene, and evaluating the implant restoration at regular recall visits.

Preston Dentist explains the Significance of Regular Check-ups

It is not very unusual for people to completely forget about their dental health when they consider just how healthy they actually are. And in difficult economic times, good dental care is often put aside for more vital concerns.

Mouth cancers are frequently caused by tobacco use. But even people who have never smoked can still develop oral cancer. Most people will fall victim to this illness after they turn forty years old. According to dental expertise, only half of all patients diagnosed with oral cancer survive more than five years, yet there is still hope.

Cancerous lesions may be prevented through diets high in vegetables and fruits, early detection can reverse effects, new treatments are available. Additionally, there is new imaging technology available that allows the dentists to detect and visualize pre-cancerous lesions when they're yet in the first stages of development.

You may also develop gum disease, which harms the protecting soft tissues around your teeth. The two major stages are gingivitis, the milder and reversible form, and latter, the more progressive form, periodontitis.  Failing restorations, smoking, and certain medications can also cause this illness. There are several distinctive symptoms of periodontal disease, including bad breath, bleeding gums, the spacing out of front teeth, and widening of the spaces between teeth. To prevent this disease, adequate regular home dental care is essential, which means you should follow a daily regimen of brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash, and regularly schedule visits to the dentist.

Types of Porcelain Veneers, Explained by Preston Cosmetic Dentist

Natural beauty and aesthetics that we see in nature is achievable through bonding technology of dental veneers to natural teeth. The process of bonding a veneer to a tooth allows light to transmit through the veneer and pick up the optics of the tooth.

A veneer is a thin shell made out of different tooth-colored materials such as porcelain and composite. They are custom made and bonded to the front surface of the tooth. A veneer can be used to treat dental conditions such as a slightly crooked tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or they can even be used to cover spaces in between the teeth.

Veneers are one of the many cosmetic dental treatments that have grown in popularity due to their ease in application, and for the amazing results they can produce. With just a few dental visits, the application of veneers can give you healthier looking teeth that will benefit your overall appearance and lifestyle.

Tooth Veneers are very thin mouldings that are specially made for your condition. The veneers themselves are made from materials designed to replicate your own teeth and give a natural, bright smile. The mouldings used can vary in material and size and there may be some minimal reshaping of the teeth.

We all like to have some variety when making decisions. When it comes to dental veneers, the variety is currently  five different types of materials. One of the biggest differences between veneering systems is how much the tooth is to be reshaped before the veneer is placed. Each Veneer system has different requirements. As most individuals are unaware of the differences, I chose to write this overview of the different types of dental veneers available at Preston Dental Care. As a passionate cosmetic dentist in Preston dedicated to giving each of my patients the best possible solution for their individual needs, our Dental Practice Preston office provides all types of veneer treatments dependant on each patients’ unique situation and desires.
